Hello again! I'd like to let everyone know that our programming department is busily booking shows for the 2008 Filene Center season, all of which (to date) will be announced to the public on March 17 by our President & CEO Terre Jones during Wolf Trap's National Press Club Luncheon. I will hopefully have the chance to blog live from the event so please check in with me for real time announcements of our summer performers. Provided you are not a Wolf Trap member, tickets will become available for purchase on March 29 @ 10:00 a.m. through our website, box office location, phone, tickets.com outlet, etc.
Additionally, I'll be running a ticket giveaway contest, the goal of which will be to identify three summer 2008 performers from a random set of facts given by yours truly. So start thinking about who we might have already booked by doing your research on the rock, jazz, and country genres, (our schedule isn't limited to these three, but the artists I have in mind fall into these categories) and whether your guesses are appropriate for Wolf Trap's size and demographic. Contest details will go up about a week before the NPC lunch, and I will announce the winner on my blog on the 17th from the NPC.
In the meantime, who are you hoping to hear this summer? I'd love to see some comments with your 2008 summer Wolf Trap wishlist.
Tune in tomorrow for the video of the week...
later on,
Graham
In thinking about new albums that have dropped recently or will hit later this year, which leads me to believe that they will be touring - in conjunction with my musical taste - I'd love to see:
ReplyDeleteCounting Crows
Snow Patrol
My Morning Jacket
Rilo Kiley
Avett Brothers
Death Cab for Cutie
Iron & Wine
Robert Plan & Alison Krauss
Would you ever book something more in the electronica realm? Maybe LCD Soundsystem?
neil young!
ReplyDeleteNeil Young
ReplyDeletewow, some good ideas... too bad those Avett Brothers are playing at the Birchmere this summer where tickets end up costing a ridiculous $35 with ticketing fees... i hope you were fortunate enough to see their incredible performance at the Barns at Wolf Trap in Fall '06.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of a bluegrass festival at Wolf Trap booking some of the famous local acts Seldom Scene, Country Gentleman Reunion band, John Starling, Eddie and Martha Addcock, Tony Rice etc. integrate it with the country music scene of the 50's and 60's in D.C. area with Jimmy Dean, Roy Clark, Charlie Daniels
ReplyDeleteAnd Earth Wind and Fire with Chicago!
And finally will Matthew Lesko be appearing at Filene Center this summer. I believe he lives in D.C. area I can see him now running back and forth on stage telling us how we can get free money from the federal government. Its Insane!
ReplyDeleteHow about the NSO doing a musical tribute to the work of Ennio Morricone? maybe have the great! Mr. Morricone appear and conduct?
And Peppino D'Agostino play a piece or two on guitar
