A Day in the Life at Wolf Trap w/ Bright Eyes, M. Ward & Dawes

Peter Zimmerman captured the entire day with Dawes, M. Ward and Bright Eyes, from load-in to load-out yesterday. Here's the schedule starting first thing in the morning. Quite a day! These meals are making me hungry...

7:40am – Bright Eyes buses already sitting in parking lot.
8:00am – Coffee up and ready to go.
8:30am – Breakfast is served! Omelet bar, crispy bacon, a delicious veggie and tofu scramble, and warm home fries.
9:00am - Load in begins.
9:45am – Soundboard is set in front of house.
10:00am – Video curtain is in place.
10:40am – Runner on his way to Guitar Center to pick up 8 extra drum heads for Bright Eyes’ continued tour in Europe.
11:00am – “Garlics” are being deployed on stage (their function is yet to be determined).
12:25pm – Goodbye, bus drivers! They’ll sleep through the show and we’ll see them again after the show.
12:30pm – Calling all vegetarians for lunch! Delicious sandwiches and veggie wraps, tomato and thyme vegan soup, fresh corn and tomato salsa, and strawberry shortcake. Yum.
1:00pm – M. Ward arrives. Grabs a bite to eat.
2:00pm – Our crew is back from lunch. Work on stage continues.
4:00pm – M. Ward and Dawes sound checking together.
4:30pm – Driver goes to pick-up wardrobe sized boxes to mail to Europe.
4:50pm – Wash up for dinner! Fajita bar, pasta, salmon, and a brioche bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Many seconds of pudding are taken.
5:30pm – Lawn rush.
6:30pm – House is open.
7:00pm – Runner heading out to purchase some pre-show drink materials.
7:30pm – 4 after-show pizzas are ordered from the delicious Luciano Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria.
7:00pm – Dawes kicks off the evening!
7:30pm – M. Ward begins his set.
8:45pm – The audience starts to scream at the first sounds of Bright Eyes’ “Firewall.”
8:50pm – “Garlics” function becomes clear! (see show photos)
9:40pm – “This building is amazing. It feels like we’re in the forest.” – Conor Oberst
10:30pm – Conor Oberst calls M. Ward and Dawes back on stage to bring the audience to their feet with “Road to Joy.”
10:40pm – The show goes down.
10:41pm – Load out begins! Which trunks are going to New York and which are going to Europe?
10:50pm – Friends and family of the performers file through stage door.
11:57pm – Load out is finished.
