June at Wolf Trap
has been exciting! It’s almost too hard to keep up, but you’re in luck because
I’ll recap some highlights for you in this week’s News and Notes!
Wolf Trap’s
President and CEO, Terrence Jones, was awarded the prestigious
NOVAFoward Award by the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce on June 20.
Brush up on Terre’s accomplishments in this press
release pickup from Yahoo! News.
School is finally out and there is tons of fun to be had,
and your summer wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Wolf Trap’s Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods! The
Connection and the Manassas
Park Patch recommend Theatre-in-the-Woods as a must-go for children of all
ages. Several Theatre-in-the-Woods performers will also be featured in the July
issue of D.C. Magazine, so make sure to pick up a copy at your local newsstand.
Thursday night, the co-bill of Brandi Carlile and Josh Ritter catered to a different crowd with their eclectic
Americana/folk styles. Carlile introduced songs from her latest album, Bear Creek, and played a few of her
previous hits. Get a feel for Carlile’s Bear
Creek in her interview with Stephen M. Deusner for Expressnightout.com.
If you are a fan of The
B-52s, then there is a must read interview with Fred Schneider in this week’s MetroWeekly. Schneider
and the rest of the group will appear at the Filene Center in July along with
UK new wave sensations Squeeze.
Tickets are flying out the door, so make sure to get yours before they sell
out!
As the month of June comes to a close, it’s time to start
filling up your July/August calendar. The Washington Blade previews a few of Wolf
Trap’s upcoming acts, including two of the National
Symphony Orchestra’s concerts Broadway
Rocks! (July 6) and The Wizard of Oz
(July 14), The B-52s (July 19), Rufus
Wainwright and Ingrid Michaelson (July 24) and David Koz (August 22) in their Summer Sizzle.
