This Week at Children's Theatre-in-the-Woods

Dear friends, brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, granddads, grandmas, cousins etc:

To date, the Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods season has featured fourteen performing groups from across the country and around the world. Four of the bands that have visited this summer are included on the Time Out New York Kids’ 2012 list of “Top 25 Best Bands for Kids” and two are GRAMMY nominees. As Wolf Trap’s mascot, I couldn’t be more proud!

It has been difficult to wave a paw goodbye to the many incredible artists that have entertained families from all over the Washington, D.C. metro area, but I am happy to have shared the magic of Wolf Trap Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods. Luckily for you and me, there is still one more week of performances! Join me for the grand finale – featuring Before the People Came on Tuesday through Thursday, August 7-9 and Justin Roberts on Friday and Saturday, August 10 and 11!

Before the People Came is a heartwarming musical adaptation of an African folktale, infusing lessons on the importance of sharing and the value of diversity with original jazz and blues music. Picture this: a horrible drought has settled on a desert plain, leaving the animals weak with thirst. Rabbit discovers a juicy pear tree, but a vicious and selfish tiger guards it. How do the animals overcome their obstacles and work together?  Dr. Jeff Obafemi Carr, the director and playwright, invites us to come and see!

Affectionately referred to as “the Paul McCartney of kids’ music” by USA Today, Justin Roberts will rock the socks off Theatre-in-the-Woods’ audiences! Justin Roberts and his band, The Not Ready for Nap Time Players, is yet another GRAMMY nominated group to visit us this summer. With his uncanny ability to relate to kids, it is no wonder that Mr. Roberts is the winner of six Parents' Choice Gold Awards. This wolf is already wagging his tail.

See you for the final week of Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods Summer 2012!

Your pen pal with paws,

WOLFIE
